107. Hon Rod Caddies to
the Leader of the House representing the
Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
I refer to the government-owned
coal-fired power stations in Collie.
(1) Can the minister confirm that these
coal plants are not always operated at their optimum output levels?
(2) Has the minister received any written
advice from Synergy regarding the ongoing maintenance requirements of these
coal plants, and if so, were any concerns raised, and what were they?
(3) Are the Collie coal-fired power
plants being operated in a way that maximises their operational life span?
(4) How many cold starts were performed
at the government-owned coal-fired power stations in the past 12 months?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has
been provided by the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation and I answer on
behalf of the Leader of the House.
(1) Generation assets are dispatched by
the Australian Energy Market Operator in accordance with system requirements.
(2)–(3) Maintenance requirements are managed on
site and in accordance with asset management plans and original equipment
manufacturer recommendations.
(4) A total of 19.
