2. For the last working day of September 2001, 2252 prisoners were employed out of 2604 eligible for work. [The Prison Performance Measurement System data.] 3. The revenue from external sales for the 2000/01 financial year was $1,667,000 but no account is made of production used internally. 4. The revenue is used to offset the cost of materials and providing the work programmes. 5. There are five levels of payments for prisoners participating in work, education or treatment programmes. The total paid to prisoners for the 2000/01 financial year was reported as $4,312,000. The daily rates are: Level 1 $6.60 per day Level 2 $5.06 per day Level 3 $3.96 per day Level 4 $2.82 per day Level 5 $2.09 per day
