Mr. Kelly accuses the Premier of deliberately withholding information from a school regarding the potential use of land for a disability justice centre, despite ongoing discussions about the land's future. DISABILITY
JUSTICE CENTRES — BASSENDEAN ELECTORATE
259. Mr D.J. KELLY to the Premier:
The Premier said in
his answer that a conversation has to start somewhere. Is it not the case that
for the last few months the school has been in discussions with the government
about the future of that land and not once was it told that the government was
considering using it for a disability justice centre? Is it not the case that
the Premier deliberately kept them in the dark to protect the flow-back against
his government?
The SPEAKER : This is not a supplementary question. You asked the first part of the
question. Do not make a speech; just ask the question.
Mr D.J. KELLY : I will ask a supplementary question. The
Premier said a discussion had to start somewhere. Has that discussion not
started already and the government never shared with the school its intentions
for that site?

I have played no role in any discussions with Lockridge. My
understanding, from my time as education minister, is that the farmland is on
another title. I support them having security of title over that farmland. I
did as education minister. If that has not been fixed over the past 10 years,
then that is a pity.
Mr D.J. Kelly : It is a pity; they have been asking for
security of tenure for years!
Mr C.J. BARNETT : I just place on the record that the member
opposite has never bothered to walk across here and raise it with me.
