Western Australian police officers do a dangerous and difficult job and deserve our respect and support. To provide greater protection for our officers and to deter and hold offenders to account, the McGowan Government is equipping our officers with body armour and body worn cameras. The Western Australia Police Force advise:
(a) 2017 – 759; 2018, 764; 2019 – 787; 2020 (to 16 February 2020) 122.
The WA Police Force categorise all assault offences against police officers as “Assault Police Officer” and does not distinguish ‘serious’ and ‘common’ assaults. Statistics are provisional and subject to revision.
