I thank the member for some notice
of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister
for Regional Development.
(1)–(3) The
proponent KRED Enterprises prepared a preliminary program proposal that formed
the basis of the cabinet submission for the Marlamanu on-country diversionary
facility. The proponent, KRED, with assistance
from the Kimberley Development Commission and other state government agencies,
is currently in an intensive operational planning stage, which includes
site planning, program design, policies and procedures
and other operational components. This will form the basis for the business
case, which is under development.
Approval of this operational model and business case will be a precondition for
disbursement of the full pilot funding. Noting the impact of the recent
Kimberley floods, the parties are continuing to aim for commencement of the
Marlamanu program as soon as possible.
