BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY — BEST PRACTICE
INDUSTRY CONDITIONS
1212. Hon NEIL THOMSON to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the best practice
industry conditions that apply to the Tonkin Highway extension stage 1 and 2
and the Thomas Road upgrade, which refer to the Construction, Forestry, Mining
and Energy Union.
(1) Will the
minister provide an unredacted copy of the best practice industry conditions to
be tabled in Parliament for scrutiny by the opposition?
(2) Did Main
Roads undertake any assessment of the impact on the cost of the projects it
applies to prior to its acceptance by the government?
(3) (a) If yes to (2), what was that
cost for each project?
(b) If no to (2), why not?

some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the
Minister for Transport.
(1)–(3) Fair wages are included in the estimated cost, and
best practice industry conditions will ensure these wages and conditions
are passed through to subcontractors.
