BANNED DRINKERS REGISTER
1028. Hon WILSON TUCKER to the minister representing the
Minister for Racing and Gaming:
I thank the minister for the
response to my previous question without notice 972 regarding individuals on
the banned drinkers register in reference to the information provided in tabled
paper 3399.
Can the minister please provide a further
breakdown of the inclusion rates by town or city for each area listed?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the
Minister for Racing and Gaming.
The
Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries advises that it
is not feasible to provide a further breakdown of inclusion rates by town or
city for the following reasons: firstly, part 5C of the Liquor Control Act 1988
stipulates that any information obtained in relation to an application for a banned
drinker order must not be disclosed or used for any purpose other than that for
which it was provided unless the information is in a statistical form that does
not identify the individual concerned; and, secondly, the director of Liquor
Licensing provides statistical data by banned drinker area to prevent
the identification of individuals with a banned drinker order in a specific
town or city.
