DEPARTMENT OF FISHERIES — EFFICIENCY DIVIDEND 33. Hon KIM CHANCE to the Minister for Fisheries: Is it the minister’s understanding that the three per cent efficiency dividend will be applied to the whole of the Department of Fisheries’ budget, or just that component of the budget that is sourced from the consolidated fund? Hon NORMAN MOORE

I thank the member for the question. I am having discussions with Treasury about that matter. As Hon Kim Chance knows, the appropriate cut should be to the appropriation as opposed to the expenditure of the department. That is my view and I will be promoting that particular state of affairs to Treasury, and I expect that is what it will agree to.
