RESIDENTIAL PARKS (LONG-STAY TENANTS) ACT —
STATUTORY REVIEW
908. Hon KATE DOUST to the Minister for
Commerce:
I refer to the statutory review of
the Residential Parks (Long-stay Tenants) Act 2006, which was commenced in 2012
and finalised on 31 March this year—four years later. Can the minister
provide an update on where the review is currently at, and when a bill can be
expected to be introduced into this place to provide the very important reforms
that people in that sector are looking for?

I thank the honourable member for
the question.
I received an update on the progress
of that legislation recently, but, I am sorry, I have a mental blank as to the
current status of it. I know that work is in progress with that. I think a considerable
amount of consultation has taken place to achieve an appropriate balance in the
draft legislation that will be prepared against the interests of the
residential park owners and, of course, the necessary aspirations to develop
their parks from time to time or to change the character of those parks, as against
the interests of residents who have been residing there for long periods in
what would ordinarily be temporary accommodation. I will refresh my memory on
that, and I will give the honourable member an answer next week as to the
status of that matter.
