Disability Services Commission The Disability Services Commission made one ex gratia payment since February 2001. (1) Mr Raymond and Mrs Regina McDonald. (2) $4842.85. (3) Mr and Mrs McDonald complained to the Ombudsman that, as a result of 'work experience' arranged by a staff member of the Disability Services Commission for one of its clients, they suffered a loss of $9,685.70, when the client took action against them in the Industrial Magistrate's court on account of underpayment of wages. At the conclusion of her investigation, the Ombudsman found that, although the Commission was not legally liable, it had a moral obligation to the McDonalds. Thus, the Ombudsman recommended that an act of grace payment be made to the McDonalds for half their legal costs and half the settlement amount. (4) The Ombudsman recommended that an act of grace payment be made to the McDonalds. A letter was then forwarded to the Treasurer requesting his approval to make an act of grace payment. The payment of $4842.85 was made to the McDonalds conditional upon the signing of a deed of release. Office of Women's Policy The Office for Women's Policy has made no ex gratia or similar payments to any person since February 2001. Other Agencies The Department of Premier and Cabinet provide administrative support to the Office of Multicultural Interests; Constitutional Centre; Office of Citizens and Civics and the Office of Federal Affairs.
