The Review of the
Working with Children Check (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004
was tabled in Parliament on 13 September 2012. The Review contained 23 recommendations, many of which require legislative change. Drafting instructions are in the process of being finalised and will then go to Cabinet for approval.
Recommendation 6 regarding the new application management system has been fully implemented. The remainder of the recommendations dealing with operational matters are being progressively addressed.
