QuestionView source ↗
I note that his office has removed from the government Internet site the information that was placed there by his predecessor. (1) Will he give consideration to providing that information, clearly labelled, so that people who for historical purposes wish to research what was previously there are able to do so? (2) Have his staff complied with the State Records Act with regard to the information that was removed? (3) If they have not done so, will he undertake to ensure that they will do so? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank the member for his very interesting question. I regret that I have not had time to look at my Internet site. (1) I will certainly give that consideration when I determine what information has been removed, because I am not aware of what information has been removed. (2)-(3) I will make inquiries to determine whether the provisions of the State Records Act have been properly adhered to. I might add, when I moved into the office, the computers contained no information whatever. It is possible that it had been removed at that stage. Every paper file was missing from my office and every electronic file had been totally erased. WESTERN BOAT BUILDERS, PATROL BOAT 125. Hon GEORGE CASH to the Minister for Works and Services: Further to my question without notice 97 asked yesterday, will the minister table the information that he has on that patrol boat? That will save the time of the House and the need for further briefings, and enable my client to read the information a lot sooner. Hon TOM STEPHENS replied: I am happy to table the information for Hon George Cash’s client. The information is contained in a format that purports to be the answer to a question without notice of which some notice has been given. [See paper No 373.]
