The State Government launched a $2 million TV, print and radio advertising campaign to recruit healthcare workers to our State. The Belong campaign is a local, national and international campaign and is currently in market.
Fully funded refresher programs for experienced nurses and midwives wanting to return to employment have been made available.
WA health will be on-boarding 885 newly qualified nurses and midwives (NQNM) from January to March this year. GradConnect will open on 18 February 2022 for NQNM seeking employment from April to August 2022.
The Nursing and Midwifery Career Expo will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on 11 February 2022.
Additionally, all hospitals are actively recruiting staff with their own individual job placements.
For the first quarter of the 2021-2022 financial year, the following full-time equivalent (FTE) workers were employed by the WA health system:
(a) Nurses: 13,492 average FTE
(b) Midwives: 1,155 average FTE
(c) Doctors (excluding Paediatricians): 4,475 average FTE
(d) Paediatricians: 580 average FTE
