The Minister Replied:
(1) Yes.
(2) A total of $794 564 was spent by Main Roads for signs/lines maintenance and culvert repairs from July 1999 to November 1999. This figure does not include bridge works.
Maintenance of Great Eastern Highway is now undertaken under Term Network Contract 3/99, which is a ten-year outcomes based contract. The successful proponent, CSR Emoleum commenced operations on 4 November 1999. To date, they have undertaken pavement repairs, resealing works and whitelining on Great Eastern Highway, at an approximate cost of $1.7 million, and will continue to perform ongoing routine maintenance to meet maintenance standards.
(3) The Commonwealth Government has notionally approved a $61 million program of improvements for the Tammin-Southern Cross section with an initial allocation of $5 million in 2002/03. Maintenance of the Tammin-Southern Cross section is included in the relevant Term Network Contract which came into effect in November 1999.
