SUPERVISED PAROLE ORDERS
474. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Corrective Services:
Behind the chair, there has been an
agreement that the answers to parts (1) and (2) of this four-part question can
be provided today and I will put the others on notice.
(1) How many persons are currently
subject to a supervised parole order?
(2) How many of
these parolees are subject to wearing an electronic monitoring device as a condition
of their parole?
(3) How many persons currently
subject to a supervised parole order have whereabouts unknown?
(4) Regarding part (3) —
(a) how long has each parolee's
whereabouts been unknown; and
(b) for each parolee with whereabouts
unknown, what offences had they been found guilty of?

adults.
(2) As of 9 May 2023, there were 12
adults subject to electronic monitoring.
(3)–(4) The status of parolees whose parole has been
suspended and whereabouts are unknown is recorded in their individual
electronic record as free text. Providing this information would require
case-by-case analysis. As such, we ask the honourable member to put parts (3)
and (4) of the question on notice.
