I refer to stage 2 of the property development known as Ocean Farm Estate at Lancelin and a request for the Water Corporation to become the water supply service provider. The request has had a protracted history that is adding considerable costs to the development. (1) What is the current state of the request? (2) Has the developer been kept informed of the delays? (3) What efforts are being made to ensure a speedy resolution to the problems? (4) When will the Water Corporation make a decision? Hon NICK GRIFFITHS

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) The request to accept the role of preferred water service provider and the terms and conditions under which the Water Corporation will accept the role are being assessed. It is the Economic Regulation Authority’s role to approve the water service provider. (2) The corporation last met with the developers on 12 October 2004 and identified a number of key issues that must be addressed. (3) The terms and conditions are being developed. (4) The corporation will respond by the end of December 2004; however, the decision to authorise the service provider rests with the Economic Regulation Authority and not the Water Corporation.
