QuestionView source ↗

(1) Does the Western Australian Government intend on being realistic
with respect to Indigenous Expenditure reporting in WA by excluding the cost of mainstream services (policing, schools, government departments,
TAFE etc), unlike previous Government reporting, such as the reporting on the town of Roebourne in 2012 and 2014? (2) If no to (1), why not? (3) How has the WA Government sought to address the issues identified in the Indigenous Expenditure reports for Roebourne? (4) Since the Indigenous Expenditure reports for Roebourne, has the Western Australian Government through the Regional Services Reform Unit provided the Roebourne Community with a full list of who has received funding; how much; and for what purpose? (5) If no to (4), why not? (6) Will the Minister table Indigenous Expenditure reports for Roebourne? (7) If no to (6), why not?

(1) Indigenous expenditure reporting is prepared by the Productivity Commission under the direction of the Steering Committee for the Review of Government Services Provision, which comprises senior representatives from State and Territory Governments.
The 2017 Indigenous Expenditure Report includes Table W1 titled ‘All Government direct expenditure on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, by program and type of expenditure ($ millions) 2015-16’, which outlines the amount of mainstream and Indigenous specific expenditure in Western Australia. The Report is publicly available at: www.pc.gov.au/research/ongoing/indigenous-expenditure-report/2017.

(3) On 19 February 2018, the Hon Simone McGurk announced the West Pilbara Plan that will tackle intergenerational disadvantage and child sexual abuse in and around the town of Roebourne.
As one of the six key priority areas, the State Government has committed to reprioritising government contracts and services that are delivered to get better outcomes, particularly for Roebourne Aboriginal residents.
(4) Since early 2016, the Regional Services Reform Unit has been working with elders and community leaders in the town of Roebourne, through the community driven 6718 Advantage Group.
This group has been working with Government using data from the 'Resilient Families, Strong Communities: Mapping service expenditure and outcomes in the Pilbara and the Kimberley ' to identify how government funded services can be better targeted in and around the town of Roebourne.
