810. Hon MATT BENSON-LIDHOLM to the minister representing
the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to the fire at Two Peoples Bay on 11 October 2012 in
which Department of Environment and Conservation firefighters were injured.
(1) At what time
did the Fire and Emergency Services Authority take over control of the management
of the fire?
(2) What was the
rationale for FESA assuming control of the management of the fire?
(3) What was the
source and currency of information contained in the FESA alert at 3.18 pm on
Friday, 11 October 2012?
(4) When was the
next alert issued?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
The fire at Two Peoples Bay was on 12 October 2012.
(1) FESA took
control of the fire at 1730 hours on Friday, 12 October 2012, under section 13
of the Bush Fires Act 1954.
(2) FESA assumed
control to ensure ongoing firefighting operations were maintained, as the
bushfire was not yet controlled, and the coordination of complex multi-agency
activities relating to firefighter welfare and recovery.
(3) The alert
issued at 1518 hours on Friday, 12 October 2012 was current at the time of
issue. Information was provided by the incident management team located at Two
Peoples Bay.
(4) The next
alert was issued at 1855 hours on Friday, 12 October 2012.
