The number of family and domestic violence incidents with police involvement that were reported to the Department’s South West district office were:
2012-13: 1,298 incidents;
2013-14: 1,230 incidents;
2014-15: 1,059 incidents, and
2015-16: 1,691 incidents.
The state government is committed to strengthening service responses and raising awareness in the community that family and domestic violence is unacceptable, which has contributed to an increase in reported incidents. Victims are also becoming more confident in reporting incidents to the police and seeking support from service providers.
