1053. Hon SOPHIA MOERMOND to the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to the ongoing unresolved
dispute between the government and the United Professional Firefighters Union
of Western Australia over firefighters' pay and conditions.
(1) Is the
government concerned about potential industrial action by firefighters and what
this might mean for the bushfire response this coming summer during the likely
El Ni�o weather event, which is linked to dry, hot weather and more bushfires?
(2) How is the government planning
to resolve the dispute?
