SMITHS BEACH RESIDENTIAL VILLAGE PROPOSAL
1544. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the minister representing the
Minister for Planning:
I refer to the Smiths Beach
residential village proposal for lot 4131 and the amendment to include a ramp,
reported in the Busselton Dunsborough Times on Friday, November 15, to ''span
roughly 100m from the western end of the beach'' and be ''five
metres high''.
(1) Given the proposed seawall was not in the original
proposal, will the minister ensure the amended proposal is readvertised
for community comment?
(2) Has the
minister received any advice on the impacts, engineering validity and risk
assessment for such a large concrete and rock structure?
(3) What is the
current status of the proposal for lot 4131, given that it was lodged with the
state development assessment unit in December 2021 and the Environmental
Protection Authority undertook a public environmental review in May 2022?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. I am responding to this question on behalf of the Minister for
Agriculture and Food, who is out of the chamber on urgent parliamentary
business. The Minister for Planning has provided the following response.
(1)–(3) The
premise of the question is incorrect. Plans and details of a seawall were
included in the part 17 development application proposal that was publicly
advertised from 27 July to 8 September 2022. All part 17 applications are
referred to relevant state government agencies and service providers for
comment and advice. The EP-1 public environmental review process has not yet
concluded.
