PERTH STADIUM —
WESTADIUM — INTEREST PAYMENTS
1036. Mr W.J. JOHNSTON to the
Treasurer:
I have a supplementary question. In the spirit of that
transparency, will the minister answer the second part of the question? Given
that the minister was out-negotiated by Westadium on
the interest rate, how can we be confident he was not out-negotiated on every
aspect of this deal?

Would the people of Western Australia want him in charge of
negotiating projects?
Several members interjected.
Dr M.D. NAHAN : I
do not think so. That would really be dodgy!
We do not negotiate loan money to joint venture partners,
borrow money on their behalf or go to the bankers and negotiate with them. The suggestion
that we have been outbid on interest rates just shows how little the member for
Cannington knows about this project and all other projects. Such an idiotic
question does not warrant a response.
