The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) advises:
Of the 13 BFB and VFRS appliances in the Yallingup and Dunsborough region:
One appliance is currently in Perth having the additional crew protection components fitted (excluding AVL). Six appliances are scheduled to be recovered to Perth to have the additional crew protection components fitted (excluding AVL) by the end of February 2017; and two appliances are being replaced with new build appliances in January 2017. One new appliance will be delivered with the full suite of crew protection components installed and the other is out of scope as it will be redesignated as a Country Pump and as such will not be a bush firefighting appliance but will be fitted with AVL.
(a) In-cab breathing system; protective fire resistant body panels and critical component lagging; a water deluge system and an automatic vehicle locating system (AVL).
(b) While there were some initial delays in awarding the contracts due to complexity of the specification design processes, the implementation roll out is now on schedule.
(c) AVL is anticipated to be completed by the end of November 2016 and the outstanding crew protection components for the remaining appliances is anticipated to be completed by the end of February 2017.
