the Premier:
I have a

enough for the Premier to admit his minister has failed, what is?

The Minister for
Corrective Services has undertaken a range of initiatives to continue to expand
the prison system. That includes the stage 2 expansion of Casuarina, which is
underway, with $254 million committed to increase capacity by
373 beds. That is on top of the 512 beds delivered in stage 1.
We have invested $380 million to expand Acacia Prison, which will provide
an additional 320 beds and we have invested over $426 million in
youth detention since mid-2022. That includes our recent $158 million
commitment for a new youth detention facility to replace unit 18 at Casuarina.
We are also training more prison officers at a record rate to continue to
ensure that the people who are part of our custodial services are kept safe.
