Minister for Police:
I refer the minister to his
commitment to make legislative amendments to the Community Protection (Offender
Reporting) Act 2004, in response to recommendations from the fifty-second
report Punitive not protective: When the mandatory registration of young
people is not based on risk .
(1) Does the
Labor government remain committed to making amendments to the Community
Protection (Offender Reporting) Act 2004?
(2) If yes to (1), when will the
legislation be introduced into Parliament?
(3) If no to (1), why not?

(1)–(3) The
drafting of amendments to the Community Protection (Offender Reporting) Act
2004 is in progress. It is anticipated that legislation will be introduced into
Parliament this year.
