DAIRY FARMERS — MILK SUPPLY CONTRACTS
1275. Hon DARREN WEST to the Minister for
Agriculture and Food:
(1) Is the
minister aware that dairy farmers in the south west are being penalised 3c a litre
for undersupply of milk to Brownes , while at the same
time one dairy farmer is pouring milk down the drain?
(2) Has the
minister met with Brownes to try to help farmers who
are undersupplying to reduce this penalty by allowing milk to be sourced from
the farmer without a contract to counter the shortfall?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The
Department of Agriculture and Food has confirmed with Brownes that no 3c a litre penalty is being applied.
