HANDHELD RADIO REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
1003. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to the very high frequency
handheld radio replacement program.
(1) What is the status of the
replacement program?
(2) How many VHF
handheld radios have been replaced to date and how many remain awaiting
replacement?
(3) Are the replacement programs in the Kimberley and
Pilbara complete; and, if so, what are the next priority regions?
(4) What model of handheld radio is
being issued by the program?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The Department of Fire and
Emergency Services VHF replacement project is ongoing.
(2) Approximately 450 units have been replaced, with
approximately 150 remaining in this phase of the rollout.
(3) Yes, and the midwest–Gascoyne
region.
(4) It is the Tait TP9600.
