(1) Which schools in the Kimberley district were not fully staffed at the beginning of the 2000 school year?
(2) Which schools in the Kimberley district were not fully staffed at the beginning of Term 3 in 2000?
(3) Which schools in the Kimberley district have been required to fill teaching positions with temporary staff on short term contracts?
(4) For each school in (3) above, will the Minister for Education table the number of short term contracts required at each school and the duration of each contract?
(5) Can the Minister advise why Wyndham District High School has not been classified as remote or difficult to staff which would provide teachers with incentives to remain in the town?

The Minister Replied:
(1) Wyndham District High School was not fully staffed at the commencement of the 2000 school year.
(2) Two schools were not fully staffed at the commencement of Term 3, 2000;
· Wyndham District High School with one primary and one secondary vacancy
· Fitzroy Crossing District High School with one primary vacancy.
(3) The following schools in the Kimberley Education District have been required to fill teaching positions with temporary staff on short term contracts in the 2000 school year;

(5) Wyndham District High School is classified as a Difficult to Staff school as part of the Country Incentives Program. Teachers appointed to Wyndham District High School receive the following allowances in addition to the base salary and existing district allowances:
· a total of $19,017.50 paid over 3 years with 20% of this amount paid on completion of the first year of service, 35% paid on completion of the second year of service and the remaining 45% paid upon completion of the third year of service;
· permanency on completion of satisfactory service after two years in a Difficult to Staff school; and
· bonus transfer points for staff for each year of service in a Difficult to Staff school upon completion of three years service in a Difficult to Staff school.
