I refer to public commentary relating to Mr Greg Poland when he was the Deputy Chair of the Peel Development Commission seeking disposal solutions for Forrestfield Link project contaminated soils and ask: (a) Was the Minister for Regional Development aware of meetings between Mr Greg Poland and businessmen seeking disposal opportunities for contaminated soil; (b) How many meetings has the Minister for Regional Development had with Mr Greg Poland; (c) Will the Minister list the meeting dates and agenda discussed during these meetings; (d) Has the Minister for Regional Development discussed contaminated soil disposal opportunities with Mr Greg Poland; (e) Did the Minister for Regional Development direct or intervene in any way in the resignation of Mr Greg Poland: (i) If so, what was the reason for the Minister intervening; (f) Has the Minister for Regional Development discussed soil contamination disposal matters with the Peel Development Commission staff or board members; and (g) Did the Minister talk to Mr Poland following the media article referring to meetings Mr Poland was having with businesspeople on the matter of contaminated soil disposal?

a)      The Minister became aware of the meetings when raised by a journalist on 27 February 2019.

c)      See tabled paper for dates and agendas of the three meetings held in the Minister’s office.  In addition, the Minister met with Mr Poland on 24 August 2018 at a Labor Business Engagement event.

e)      The Minister spoke to Mr Poland on 27 February 2019 after becoming aware of his reported comments in relation to the spoil disposal matter. Mr Poland offered his resignation which the Minister accepted.
