Evidence was led in the Crime and Corruption Commission on 26 February 2007 from which the Opposition has sought to draw an inference of impropriety in relation to this matter. In order to rebut that inference, while preserving the interests protected under the Freedom of Information Act, on 28 February 2007 I forwarded all correspondence received by my office from Brian Burke between 10th February and May 2005 to the Crime and Corruption Commission, including any correspondence not produced in response to the Opposition's FOI application. The Commission has confirmed that it will consider that material as it continues its investigations. If it judges it appropriate in the public interest to make public the documents I have provided it , it is able to do so.
