PILBARA CITIES BLUEPRINT
929. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to the article headed ''Phase
out FIFO'' on page 4 of The Sunday Times of 24 Aug 2014 and the
article headed ''Blueprint to urbanise Pilbara'' in The Weekend Australian of Saturday, 28 November
2009.
(1) Did royalties
for regions, the regional development commission, Pilbara Cities or any other
agency have discussions with the mining industry in the Pilbara about the
Pilbara Cities blueprint prior to its announcement?
(2) If yes to (1), with whom were those discussions held?
(3) If yes to (1), on what dates were those discussions held?
(4) If yes to
(1), was the issue raised of the need for mining companies to reduce or cancel
their fly in, fly out operations?
(5) If yes to (4), what were the responses from the mining
industries?
(6) If no to (4), why not?

neither the former Department of Regional Development and Lands nor the Pilbara
Development Commission had discussions with the mining industry in the Pilbara
