PUBLIC HOUSING — MAINTENANCE
508. Mr P.C. TINLEY to the Minister for Housing:
I have a supplementary question. Given that the three-year
bedding-down process has not quite worked, will the minister commit to tearing
up this appalling maintenance contract; and, if not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

We are rolling out a different model for managing maintenance
in this state. As I said the last time I stood to answer a question that the
member may have asked, I have seen how all the contracts are issued, managed
and prioritised. I have confidence in the Department of Housing, its response
and what it has put in place to manage a very challenging circumstance, with
very large numbers of claims for maintenance across public housing in Western
Australia.
Mr M.P. Murray interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Member for Collie–Preston!
Mr D.T. REDMAN :
That will have time to run through. I believe that what is happening now is a
much better situation than what was happening when the model was first
implemented. I highlight again that when the member for Willagee puts out
rubbish like this, it impacts on his own credibility.
