1) The Gorgon Venture has indicated that the project would result in 3000 jobs during construction and 600 in the operational phase. Modelling conducted by Access Economics for the Gorgon Environmental, Social and Economic Review (a copy of which is in the Parliamentary Library) indicated that the project is expected to create 1700 permanent direct and indirect positions in Western Australia. (2), (3), (4) & (5) The Gorgon Joint Venture advises that “the Project is still in an early planning phase and consequently it is too early for detailed information on recruitment. However, Clause 15 of the Gorgon Gas Processing and Infrastructure Project Agreement (Schedule 1 of the Barrow Island Bill 2003 currently before Parliament) sets out the obligations of the proponent in regard to the use of local goods and services.”
