to which the minister replied —
The
Department of Communities does not capture data regarding ''children at
risk'' under the Priority Housing Needs Policy and Priority
Assessment Framework. Where indicators relating to ''children and risk''
are identified, this information would be
recorded manually on a Priority Housing and Transfer Assessment Form.
(1) Given that
the stated purpose of creating the mega Department of Communities was to
facilitate seamless communication and service provision, can the minister
access information that will inform, at a glance, how many children at risk are
currently awaiting appropriate housing?
(2) How many of those children are
on a priority list?

(1)–(2) As
previously advised, the Department of Communities does not capture data
regarding children at risk who are awaiting appropriate public housing
assistance. When indicators relating to children at risk are identified, this
information would be recorded manually on a priority housing and transfer
assessment form. Key risk factors for consideration of priority housing
assistance include homelessness; threat to personal safety or aggravated by
current housing situation; severe and ongoing medical condition caused or aggravated by current housing situation; and
current housing situation impacting on wellbeing. Although the
information is captured, recorded and considered at an individual level when
assessing applications for priority assistance, this information is not
collated globally for statistical purposes.
