(1) In accordance with the Department of Education and Training's 'Motor Vehicle Management - Remote Teaching Service Schools' Policy, teachers who are appointed to remote teaching service schools and hold a current drivers' licence are required to undertake an accredited two day course in four wheel drive vehicle training before taking up their appointments.
(2) Four wheel drive vehicle training courses are available throughout the year and are held several times per week, depending on demand. Courses are held primarily during the Christmas school holidays when the majority of appointments to the remote teaching service are made. From November through to the end of January is the time of highest demand.
(3) Refresher four wheel drive vehicle training courses are available on request.
(a) No. Refresher courses are available on request.
(b) There is no requirement for teachers to complete refresher courses.

(5) Four wheel drive training courses are included in the government's Common Use Arrangement (CUA) 40304 which is mandatory in the Perthmetropolitan area.
The training organisations listed on the CUA include:
Drive Safe AustraliaWA;
Driver Training and Education Centre;
EurekaFour Wheel Driver Training;
Shawsett Training; and
Transport Training Centre (SA) Incorporated.
Training is to the nationally accredited standard TDTC2501A. Certificates are issued on successful completion of the course.
(6) The majority of the training is completed in the Perthmetropolitan area but training is also held in regional or remote centres depending on the need.

Range and gear selection
Axle and transmission wind up
Steering, braking and accelerating
Passenger security and comfort

Braking techniques - threshold and pulse
Emergency stall procedures
