I refer to reports of a bushfire threatening Casuarina Prison on 12 November 2025, and I ask: (a) what is the current Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) assigned to Casuarina Prison; (b) in the event of a significant bushfire threatening the facility what are the operational protocols for: (i) partial evacuation of prisoners; (ii) full evacuation; (iii) transport arrangements and secure transfer routes; and (iv) the protection of staff working onsite during the event; (c) when was the last time the prison conducted a fire drill or simulation exercise in the last five years; (d) in reference to (c), please table the dates these were conducted; and (e) in reference to (c), what were the outcomes and identified gaps?

The Department of Justice advises:
a) Casuarina Prison (Casuarina) has not been assessed for BAL.
bi) Partial evacuations of prisoners are in line with the Corrective Services Emergency Management Framework 2025
bii) Full evacuations of prisoners are in line with the Corrective Services Emergency Management Framework 2025
biii) Transport arrangements are in line with the Corrective Services Emergency Management Framework 2025
biv) As per Corrective Services emergency management plans, all non-essential/custodial staff would be evacuated to the nearest safe evacuation point and accounted for accordingly. Only custodial and required medical staff would remain on site.
