MUJA AB —
REFURBISHMENT
201. Hon KATE DOUST to the minister representing the
Minister for Energy:
This is question C188, if that helps the minister.
Hon Peter Collier : It does.
Hon KATE DOUST : I refer to the comments by the
former Minister for Energy on ABC TV on 8 February 2013 about the Muja AB
refurbishment when he said, ''We did have an issue with the boilers.
That was a fundamental issue that was unforeseen.''
(1) Was the government aware that Muja AB could not function
without operational boilers?
(2) When the
former Minister for Energy said that this obvious issue was ''unforeseen'',
did he mean that he had failed to do his homework on that fundamental fact?
(3) What
precisely was done to test whether the boilers were capable of sustained, safe
operation prior to the decision to invest taxpayers' money in this
project?

this question.
Hon PETER COLLIER : Yes; it is a very pleasant question.
(1) Yes.
(2) No.
(3) The conduct
of internal engineering and operational analysis was done by Verve Energy and
verified by an external engineering firm.
