BUNBURY
REGIONAL ART GALLERIES — FUNDING
727. Hon ADELE FARINA to the
minister representing the Minister for Culture and the Arts:
I refer to funding of the Bunbury
Regional Art Galleries.
(1) Is the Art
Gallery of Western Australia or the Department of Culture and the Arts negotiating,
or have they negotiated, a three-year funding agreement that will see funding
for the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries, previously provided to the Bunbury
Regional Arts Management Board, now provided to the City of Bunbury?
(2) If yes to
(1), what conditions have been or will be placed on that funding to ensure
regional servicing of the visual arts is maintained in the south west?
(3) If yes to
(1), did the Department of Culture and the Arts or the Art Gallery of Western
Australia satisfy itself that the City of Bunbury decision to manage the
Bunbury Regional Art Galleries is lawful and valid before entering into the
negotiations?
(4) If no to (3), why not?

to be provided for the approved purpose of maintaining and developing
activities that provide access for the public to view the City of Bunbury art
collection; preserve and grow the City of Bunbury art collection; promote the
visual arts in the greater Bunbury region; and contribute to the broader
Western Australian visual arts sector. These are the same conditions as those
previously negotiated with the Bunbury Regional Arts Management Board.
