LEACH HIGHWAY EAST OF KWINANA FREEWAY - HEAVY TRUCK TRAFFIC
Political considerations aside, are there any logistical or demographic reasons for Leach Highway east of Kwinana Freeway to be considered unsuitable for heavy truck traffic, while Leach Highway west of Kwinana Freeway is considered suitable? Hon ADELE FARINA

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. The completion of Roe Highway, linking Kwinana Freeway and industrial areas such as Kewdale and Welshpool to the east, provides a purpose-built high standard alternative route for heavy vehicles. This, together with the increased capacity on Kwinana Freeway that will result from the commencement of the Perth-Mandurah railway operations, provides an opportunity to relocate trucks onto the alternative purpose-built route.
