The completion of Roe Highway, linking Kwinana Freeway and industrial areas such as Kewdale and Welshpool to the east, provides a purpose-built high standard alternative route for heavy vehicles. This, together with the increased capacity on Kwinana Freeway that will result from the commencement of the Perth-Mandurah railway operations, provides an opportunity to relocate trucks onto the alternative purpose-built route.
