EDUCATION — SCIENCE IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM
666. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to the government's
science in schools election commitment.
(1) Are district
high schools eligible to seek funding under this program?
(2) If no to (1),
why not?
(3) If yes to
(1), are any eligibility restrictions placed on district high schools that wish
to apply for funding; and, if yes, what are those restrictions?
(4) Will the
minister table the relevant funding and eligibility guidelines for this
program?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) District high schools that have primary and
secondary students located on separate sites are eligible to apply.
(2) This election
commitment was specifically targeted at primary schools that have limited
access to specialist science teachers and facilities. District high schools
have science teachers and facilities that can be accessed by their primary
students.
(3) District high
schools have to meet the same eligibility requirements as primary schools and,
in addition, need to have primary students located on a totally separate site
from the secondary students.
(4) Yes. I table
the attached information.
