FORESTRY — PLANTATIONS
1504. Hon STEVE MARTIN to the minister representing the
Minister for Planning:
I refer to plantations.
(1) Which state government planning
policy—or policies—guides the management of plantations?
(2) Is it
accurate that private plantations are required to have planning approval from
local governments but state government plantations are not?
(3) Is the government considering
any changes to (1), such as development of a state plantations policy?
(4) Has the government consulted on
any changes referred to in (3)?
(5) If yes to (4), whom has the
government consulted with?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following response has been provided by the
Minister for Planning.
(1) It is State planning policy
2.5: Rural planning .
(2) Approval requirements for plantations vary
depending on the land use permissibility of the local government planning scheme. Public works by a public authority are exempt under the Planning
and Development Act 2005 .
(3)–(5) Not applicable.
