(a) instead of using a band aid approach to a building that is out of date will the Minister consider building a primary and secondary school on the school grounds;
(i) if yes when will this occur; or
(ii) if not, why not;
(b) why has the Department of Education and Training not provided sufficient funds to keep Applecross Senior High School well maintained; and
(c) will the Department of Education and Training provide funds and if so when will the work be carried out for the following items at the school:
(i) the upper quadrangle including:
(A) the paint is peeling from a window frame;
(B) gutters need to be cleaned and painted in the undercover area;
(C) the female toilet has graffiti on the walls, doors and mirrors; peeling paint; missing taps; missing tiles around the floor drain; and
(D) a broken window in the male toilet
(ii) the lower quadrangle including:
(A) the stage area contains water stains;
(B) the pavement slabs are uneven;
(C) wires and cables are hanging below a light and speaker outside the entrance to the gymnasium;
(D) a window located outside the entrance to the lower quadrangle near the gymnasium needs painting;
(E) the toilets have: a service duct with a dilapidated timber walkway; poor drainage; lack covers; single flush mechanisms; water leaking from a cistern overflow pipe; water pooling on the floor of the toilets; in the female toilet, old paper towel holders on the wall and within the cubicles need removal; missing shower heads in the male toilet and the floor is prone to flooding.
(iii) the gymnasium including:
(A) the gutter system near the gymnasium contains broken and rusted pipes;
(B) the main entrance doors are old and dilapidated;
(C) the floor has pieces of title and whole floor tiles missing;
(D) the cupboards in the main entrance are missing doors;
(E) the main entrance needs to be used as a store room;
(F) In the foyer: the sink has no hot water; the benches are in poor condition; and the fridge does not work;
(G) In the gymnasium: the curtains are in poor condition; there are ceiling panels and light diffusers missing from the roof; the Stage curtain is dirty and needs repair; and lighting poles and equipment need repair and service.
(H) baffles are missing from air conditioner outlets in the gymnasium and one of the air conditioner units is extremely loud;
(iv) general maintenance including:
(A) The stairways contain no anti slip strips and four sets of stairs have been identified as requiring anti slip treatment;
(B) the undercover area needs cleaning and painting;
(C) the water coolers present at the school are old and dilapidated;
(D) the old gas heaters in the classrooms are inefficient; and
(E) graffiti is present throughout the school;
(v) Design and Technology Area including:
(A) Outside: a branch has fallen on a light on a path between the design and technology area and the pool; a down pipe has come away from the wall in the covered area between the design and technology and music/drama room; the steps between the oval and the design and technology area are being eroded; the gutters are broken and leaking including those on the walkway located between the lower quadrangle and the hall; the gutters and downpipes have come away from the walls and require painting; and a downpipe is missing; and
(B) Inside there is a leaking tap; and storage is needed for the equipment;
(vi) the pool area including:
(A) the pavement slabs are uneven;
(B) bricks and rubble are piled up in the area between the pool and the caretaker’s house;
(C) the shed is held down by the timber on its roof; and
(D) the bench seats are in poor condition and require sanding and painting;
(vii) Gardener’s store and automotive technology area, including:
(A) The gutters are coming off the gardener’s store and workshop building; and
(B) the fence behind the automotive technology area is damaged?
