GERALDTON G4S CUSTODIAL SERVICES PRISONER TRANSPORT FACILITY
I refer to the Geraldton facility of the prisoner transport company G4S. (1) Under the government’s contract with G4S, what is the minimum staff requirement at that facility? (2) Is there a requirement to report to government if the minimum is not met? (3) Was this facility understaffed at any time during the month of October 2010; and, if so, on how many occasions? (4) By how many officers was it understaffed? (5) Does regular understaffing constitute a breach of contract between G4S and the government; and, if not, why not? Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN

In 2010–11 the agreed staffing number for Geraldton–Greenough is 12. (2) In accordance with the contract, changes to the agreed staffing levels require the agreement of the contract manager. G4S is presently reporting staffing levels at Geraldton–Greenough on a weekly basis. (3) For the week commencing 4 October, all positions were filled. For the week commencing 11 October, one position was vacant. For the week commencing 18 October, two positions were vacant. For the week commencing 25 October, two positions were vacant.
