I refer to statements by the Government that as a result of the Mid-Financial Year Economic Review of 2001, funding for the clean-up of the abandoned minesite at the township of Wittenoom had been deferred, and I ask -
(1) Have negotiations between the Government and the Mining Tenement Holders regarding the site clean-up been completed?
(2) Have the oil drums and oil residues on and near the site yet been tested for Polychlorinated Biphenyl chemicals (PCBs) contamination?
(3) If yes, what were the results of these tests?
(4) If no to (3), when is it expected that the tests will be carried out?
(5) Can the Minister commit to full allocation of funds to carry out the clean-up operations at this site as a component of the 2001/2002 Budget?
