I refer to the decision by the
federal Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Hon Murray Watt, to
put the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union into administration.
(1) Will mirror
legislation be required for Western Australia to place the CFMEU WA into administration?
(2) If yes to (1), will the
government introduce this legislation as a priority?
(3) If no to (2), why not?
(4) Will the
Premier ensure that members of his cabinet linked to the CFMEU recuse
themselves from any cabinet deliberations on the matter?

(1)–(3) As
the Premier has previously stated, the WA government strongly supports action
by the federal government to address the issues surrounding the CFMEU. The
state government will not hesitate to take action and do what is necessary to
stamp out inappropriate behaviour in any industry or workplace.
(4) Potential,
perceived or actual conflicts are always managed in accordance with the
Ministerial Code of Conduct, regardless of the matter.
