Hon. Norman Moore asks for a guarantee that water restrictions won't be extended. Hon. Kim Chance responds that it's unlikely due to the upcoming desalination plant, but stops short of a guarantee. Both agree this effectively means 'no'.

I thank the Leader of the Opposition for providing some notice of this question. (1)-(2) Although Perth is experiencing its driest year since rainfall records commenced in the 1880s, the Perth seawater desalination plant, which will be operational in November this year, makes it highly unlikely that there will be a need for an extension of water restrictions in Perth and other communities supplied by the integrated water supply scheme in the coming summer. Hon Norman Moore : In other words, the answer is no. Hon Kim Chance : I think that means no.
