Lotterywest advises:
(a) In June 2010 a grant of up to $630,000 was made to the National Trust of Western Australia.
This included an In Principle Agreement (for ratification in the 2011/2012 financial year), for up to $385,000 for a number of projects.
One of these projects, costed at $115,000 is to support a conservation gardener at Old Farm, Strawberry Hill in Albany. The funds of $115,000 are sought to support salary, travel and accommodation and incidentals, for a pilot program in historic garden management.
This in-principle recommendation is required to be ratified by the Lotterywest Board (due in June 2011) and requires approval by the Premier as per the Lotteries Commission Act. This is considered as part of Lotterywest's support for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage.
(b) For the 2010/2011 financial year an amount of $4,800,000 has been budgeted for activities that have a direct focus on State-wide heritage issues. This amount is for the following areas:
· Community Histories;
· Conserving Cultural Heritage;
· Interpreting Cultural Heritage; and
· Conserving Natural Heritage.
