Corrective Services—Biological males—Women's prisons
124. Hon Maryka Groenewald to the minister representing
the Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to question without
notice 248 in which I was told that zero biological males were placed in
women's prisons. I also refer to the article published in The West Australian of 7 February 2026
reporting that a biological male was jailed in Bandyup Women's Prison.
(1) On what date was the man referred to
in the article first placed in Bandyup Women's Prison?
(2) If this placement occurred before 27
May 2025, can the minister explain why I was advised in response to question without
notice 248 that no biological males were placed in prison?
(3) How many biological males in total
have been placed in women's prisons in Western Australia since May 2025?
