PUBLIC SERVANT — INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR
By way of an apology regarding an earlier question, I had spoken to the leader previously. I refer to a letter sent on 29 January 2010 to the Premier from a female constituent in Broome concerning inappropriate behaviour of a public servant. (1) Has the Premier read the letter concerned? (2) What action has been taken in respect of the public servant as a result of this unfortunate incident? (3) If no action has been taken, why not ? Hon NORMAN MOORE

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)–(3) The Premier responded in writing to the constituent on 19 February 2010 to confirm that the officer had written to the person concerned to apologise for the use of inappropriate language. While not detracting from the importance of professional standards of behaviour, the Premier has further advised that the incident occurred in the context of ongoing disruptive behaviour from at least one antidevelopment campaigner, who was escorted from the shopping centre by security staff following complaints by shopkeepers.
