I thank the member for some notice of this question. I also thank the member for his powerful advocacy on behalf of Geraldton and the mid west. Once again there is very good news for the people of Geraldton. Well may our friends from the Life of Brian ask what we have ever done for Geraldton. Mr Speaker, we have a very positive story to tell. I will go through some of the key components of this budget alone. More than $66 million worth of work will be done on the redevelopment of Geraldton’s transport network and other infrastructure. I will go through some of the items for this year. Some $21.7 million has been allocated by Main Roads WA for the southern transport corridor and $20.5 million towards the rail component of that project. This year more than $20 million will be spent on the construction of the new Geraldton Regional Hospital. In addition, $4.2 million has been allocated through the Central West College of TAFE for the construction of the Batavia Coast Marine Centre. I could go on and on about these projects. Another $3 million will be spent this year at the Geraldton port to improve security, on top of the $103 million that has already been spent on the upgrade of those facilities. In excess of $2 million has been spent on the beginnings of the foreshore project. I assure the people of Geraldton and the mid west that the member for Geraldton and the Gallop Labor Government are very focused on the delivery of the next stage of the redevelopment of Geraldton, and that is the foreshore program. Over the next couple of months we will be working - Mr M.W. Trenorden interjected. Ms A.J. MacTIERNAN: I know that the people of Geraldton will not listen to members of the National Party and the Liberal Party, because they were there for eight years and they were gunna do this and they were gunna do that. The only money spent was $20 million on consultant reports for the Oakajee project; not one cent was spent on important transport infrastructure. We are making a difference in Geraldton, and the people of Geraldton are very proud of their local member and his effectiveness.
